Thing Number 8 was not simple. I never was able to get a verification email from Bloglines. While wandering around on my Google page I found Reader and that is where I was able to create the required RSS list. It was very simple to do from Google.
I see the value of the quick connection to information that is of interest to me and useful for work at the library. The only downside I see is finding the time to read all of these items of interest.
Do we put our RSS list on our blogs somehow, somewhere?

I haven’t figured out RSS so well either. It looks like yours has the ability to do Comment RSS and I have someone who would like that feature on my blog (sigh). Let me know if you figure it out. I will help you in any way I can.
