GATHERING QI Thing 14 has given me food for thought. I started with wikipedia Library 2.0 I visited the Orange County Library System and built a snowman. The snowman then led you to books on Snow families, Yeti and other things. Seemed very friendly and interesting way to present a book theme. This was imbedded [...]

Technorati Blogs Buttons and Tags

I’m connected to yet another site with another username and password. Claimed a couple of blogs as favorites but was unable to tag them. I searched “library 2.0″ under general search and had 20,000 plus hits. Refined it under blog posts and had 486 and 754 under blogs. Could not search under tags… it went [...]
DELICIOUS

I took the delicious tour http://delicious.com/ and visited some of the sites. I felt overwhelmed with information. I would have to spend longer than the 90 minutes that I did to sift through the info and relate to my life in some way. I did open an account with delicious. However I can’t seem to find [...]
Virtual Library

I took the Librarything Tour http://www.librarything.com/tags/Exlibris330 and opened an account. Seems like an overwhelming amount of information is thrown at you. You can visit libraries that others have started, join groups that have similar interests, join talks. One thought that I have is that all of this technology, although it connects you to others virtually, it moves [...]
FEEL THE QI

I wanted to make sure that I remembered how to add a photo to my blog. I was also able to capture one from the internet and not just a personal photo from my computer. It feels good to use this information and not just “learn it for the test” and then forget it. It [...]
#10 GENERATORS
Posted in Uncategorized on November 10, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
Not a very fruitful foray into the generating world. At ALA my photo kept loading and loading and loading. I gave up after 3 minutes. I checked out the other sites and saw some interesting items to make. Explored the web for free image generators and stumbled onto a text generator that I liked http://www.wordle.net/gallery/wrdl/303054/blogged. [...]
FINDING A KINDRED SPIRIT

Completing Thing #9 was painless. TOPIX made it easy to find news items on a specific local area. I checked on Downingtown and Malvern. Also used the “yellow pages” to locate specific businesses. I especially like the “Offbeat News Stories”, always someone caught doing something funny. TECHNORATI is easy to navigate and gives clear choices. [...]
RSS NOT SO SIMPLE
Posted in Uncategorized on November 6, 2008 | 1 Comment »
Thing Number 8 was not simple. I never was able to get a verification email from Bloglines. While wandering around on my Google page I found Reader and that is where I was able to create the required RSS list. It was very simple to do from Google. I see the value of the quick connection [...]
ELECTION NIGHT TECHNOLOGY
Posted in Uncategorized on November 5, 2008 | 2 Comments »
Flipping through the cable news stations on the most historic election night I foundthat CNN had the most gizmos to show what was happening. The Magic Screen, a touch screen computer, was pretty amazing. States would shrink or expand to show what the counties were doing. At the touch of a button the screen would show [...]
CREATING A TRADING CARD
Posted in Uncategorized on November 3, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
I have come to realize that each activity builds on the knowledge gained from the previous activity. It is still taking me at least an hour or two to complete an activity. A mere 90 minutes went into the card. I would like to have it off to the side of my blog but haven’t [...]
